Relay for Life – Team FEDS in Action!

Team FEDS, a Relay for Life team since 2004, is comprised of friends/co-workers from various federal law enforcement and other federal agencies.  Currently, there are four cancer survivor team members.

Team FEDS will have a tent (No. 15) for Relay Nite, the American Cancer Society’s signature event,  which will take place from Friday, May 25, 2012 (7 pm) to Saturday, May 26, 2012 (7 am) at the George Washington High School Track & Field in Mangilao.   Friends and families gather that night (some stay/camp out throughout the night and join in the closing ceremony at 6:30 am, the next morning) to celebrate and give survivors hope in beating cancer, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and to join in the fight against cancer.  Teams bring camping gear and foods to join in the fun.  Team members have purchased team shirts to wear on Relay Nite (during the Parade of Teams – around 7:15 pm) to show our strong support (as a team) in this fight.  Cancer survivors will lead the Parade of Teams, then all other teams will follow.  A luminaria (candle lighting) ceremony will take place at 9 pm.

Our team will have a pot-luck dinner between 6-6:30 pm.  Mary Rasmussen (Mary_Rasmussen@gup.uscourts.gov) is the food/menu coordinator.  So far the menu is lacking meats (chicken, ribs, steak).

Also needed are coolers for drinks and to keep cold stuff chilled — trash bins for recycling, tables — and a grill for BBQing.  People are encouraged to participate in the Lap Counting Contest (walking/running around track – 10 pm to 5 am).  There’s also a baton contest (making a lightweight baton 12-24″ that will be judged for creativity, originality and having ACS Mission Message on it).  More activities are held throughout the night.

Come join in the fun!  For more info, contact Team FEDS Co-Captains – Mae Blas (988-3186) or Rose Clark (483-7062).
